GOD and CREATION — There is only one God. He is eternally extant in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and omnipresent. He is just, good, and holy. All things, both seen and unseen, were created by him for his pleasure and glory. At the beginning, God created — from nothing — the heavens, the earth, the animals, and the first man and woman, Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were created in a state of innocence, without original sin. According to Scripture, they were created in God's image and were given dominion over the planet. God blessed them and told them to be fruitful and have children. Following Creation Week, the Lord walked with Adam and Eve every day in complete and unbroken fellowship.
SIN and the FALL OF MAN — Sin originally entered our world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. At that moment, Adam and Eve were spiritually separated from God and started to die. The sin nature was passed to succeeding generations and began manifesting in such evil behavior as murder, adultery, lying, theft, rebellion against our parents, and rebellion against God. As a result, we have all broken God's Law (the Ten Commandments) and are therefore deserving of eternal punishment. It is only by Christ's atoning death on the Cross that men and women have a chance to escape the Judgment. Sadly, those who fail to repent and live for God will be justly consigned to an unending prison of anguish and separation from all that is good.
JESUS and SALVATION — Jesus of Nazareth is the only begotten Son of God. He alone is both fully God and fully man. Consequently, only he can bridge the gap between a holy God and a fallen human race. As the second person of the triune Godhead, he existed before the Creation. By his word all things were spoken into existence. After the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, Jesus voluntarily left heaven and took on human flesh in order to atone for our sins and satisfy the requirements of the Law--the Ten Commandments. By Christ's substitutionary death at Calvary, men and women can escape eternal punishment by simply repenting of sin and walking with Christ on a daily basis. No "good deeds" or additional sacrifices can be added to the finished work of Christ at the Cross. And no one else can stand as co-redeemer or mediator between God and man.
THE BIBLE — The Bible is God's Word to man and consists of the 66 canonical books contained in the Old and New Testaments. The manuscripts in existence today are essentially the same as those that were first recorded. In the original signature, the Word of God is inerrant and accurate in all respects. Whenever Scripture comments on history, theology, prophecy, science, etc., we can be sure that it is absolutely correct. Any apparent contradictions or inaccuracies are the result of our not having total information, or because we misunderstand the information, or because our information (from secular sources) is inaccurate. Time and again, when skeptics have tried to prove some aspect of the Bible wrong, it is the skeptic and his theory who are eventually proven to be in error. There is no other written Word from God.
ISRAEL and the CHURCH — The nation of Israel was created by God to bring forth his Word, his prophets, his Temple, and his Messiah. The nation was established through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and their descendants, the people of Israel. God has made numerous promises to the people of Israel concerning their land, their wealth, and their preeminence among the nations. All of these promises will soon be fulfilled to the letter when Christ returns and establishes his kingdom. Although the Jews rejected their Messiah at his first advent, the unconditional promises of God are irrevocable, and the Jews will receive Christ at his second advent. The Jews will always be God's special people and no one will replace them or usurp their promises. The Jews will reign with Christ at his second advent.
The Church, on the other hand, was created on the day of Pentecost as a special vehicle to bring the Gospel to the nations. It is not the "new Israel." Instead, the Church is an expression of God's great mercy, inasmuch as it proves that the Lord intends to save Gentiles (branches that are "grafted in" to the tree of Israel), as well as Jews (the trunk and root of salvation). The Church was also created to spur Israel to jealousy, as it were, so that the Jews will ultimately embrace their Messiah. The Church is the Bride of Christ, and it will soon be caught up to heaven to escape the seven-year Tribulation.
THE RETURN OF CHRIST — At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will return at the glorious Battle of Armageddon and defeat all his enemies. The Antichrist and False Prophet will be taken alive and cast into the Lake of Fire. Satan himself will be chained for a thousand years and confined in a prison of darkness. The world will then experience ten centuries of true peace and prosperity under the kingship of Jesus, who will rule from Jerusalem. The Lord will be assisted by Israel and the Church. King David will rule the people of Israel under the authority of Christ. At the end of this era, Satan will be let loose to gather any remaining rebels and make one, final assault on the Lord's capital city. However, these evildoers will quickly be dispatched by fire from heaven.
THE JUDGMENT — After Satan has led his final attack against Christ, the Lord will judge all his enemies at the Great White Throne Judgment. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth as millions of people are consigned to an eternity of shame, regret, and physical torment. On the other hand, those who made the decision to turn away from sin and obey the Almighty will be welcomed into the eternal presence of a loving and all-powerful God. As the Scriptures say, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" (I Cor. 2:9).
At Prophecy7000 our goal is to draw unbelievers to Christ. It is also to motivate existing believers to bring in the lost. We hope to accomplish these objectives by convincing both unbelievers and Christians that the day of the Lord—encompassing both the Rapture and the seven-year Tribulation—is at the door.
Accordingly, Prophecy7000 provides visitors with the latest information on the end times, in the hope that such information will convince people that the Tribulation is imminent, and that preparations need to be made. For the unbeliever, these ‘preparations" include turning from sin and living a life in obedience to Christ. For the Christian, it means returning our focus to prayer, fasting, personal holiness, and witnessing.
To accomplish these objectives Prophecy7000 offers articles, books, and DVDs on prophecy and evangelization. We also provide links to related sites, as additional resources.
We pray that God is glorified in everything we do and that our website will be a blessing to all who visit.
Founder and CEO Charles "Ken" Bassett has been a born-again Christian and student of Bible prophecy for 40 years.
As a youngster, Charles grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Manhattan during the 1960s and early '70s. But in 1978, shortly after a friend gave him a copy of Hal Lindsey's The Late, Great Planet Earth, Charles gave his life to Christ and began delving into the Scriptures to see what they say about the end times. He also started consuming every available book concerning the Beast, the Whore of Babylon, and the Tribulation. Before long Charles concluded that our generation will see the Rapture, and that those left behind will have to endure the horrific Tribulation.
Not wanting to see anyone go through that period — or spend an eternity in the Lake of Fire — Charles made it his mission to witness to people and to help them see the signs pointing to Christ's imminent return for the Church.
Today, Charles is in the process of publishing a number of books that reflect his accumulated insight into the prophetic Word. His goal, he says, is to bless pastors and laymen with fresh perspectives on such topics as the Antichrist and the False Prophet, but always in accordance with sound hermeneutics and the Word of God.
As for his personal life, Charles graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1980, and from Air Force pilot training in 1981. Today, he is still happily married to his college sweetheart, Denise, and they have five children and seven grandchildren. Further, Charles is now a B-777 captain for a major airline, and enjoys flying international routes. But, he says, his greatest passion is to serve his Lord and Master, Jesus of Nazareth.
